Conifer Adoption Program
American Conifer Society Official Conifer Adoption Program

The purpose of the program is to further public understanding and education about conifers through collaborating with cities, counties, villages, and other public entities. Requirements for consideration and inclusion in this program are below:

  • Adopting entities must be sponsored by a society member.
  • The adoption of a conifer must be approved by majority vote of the ACS board of directors.
  • Once a conifer cultivar has been adopted, the ACS will recognize that cultivar as the official conifer of only the adopting entity.
  • The “Official Conifer” status will remain in effect until the adopting entity or the ACS board of directors rescinds the adoption.
  • There are no dues required for an adopting entity.
  • The ACS will promote the conifer and the adopting entity on all of its social media platforms and will work in collaboration with the adopting entity in all suggested ways that benefit the adopting entity and the purpose of the ACS.
