Mark your calendars for the 2026 ACS National Meeting in Portland, Oregon.

“Connecting Plants and People” is the theme of our Western Region 2026 conference! It has been seven years since the Western Region hosted the ACS National Meeting, and our conference site committee, led by Vinny and Cindi Grasso, is ready and excited to welcome everyone back. Those who have been here before will be reminded of the Pacific Northwest’s beauty and its rich plant diversity. First time visitors will be blown away! Oregon is Conifer Country—more evergreen landscape plants are grown in Oregon than in any other state in the nation. Ensure your cell phone is fully charged and has sufficient storage space, as you’ll be taking lots of photographs.

Our host hotel is the Holiday Inn Portland South, located 20 miles south of Portland in Wilsonville with convenient access off I-5. We will enjoy our welcome dinner there on Thursday, June 25, and conclude with dinner and a plant auction on Saturday, June 27. Renowned guest speakers will entertain and educate us on the topic we all love. The plant auction will have an amazing selection of plants suitable for all regions of the country.

Our luxury bus excursions include two days of viewing and enjoying a diversity of conifer specimens, from miniatures to full-sized, set within stunning landscapes.  Each garden offers unique displays, vignettes, and stunning panoramas. Below is a brief summary of our planned visits:

  • We are especially excited to again visit Iseli Nursery. The landscape surrounding their office is a must-see, unforgettable experience, and our first destination.
  • The Oregon Garden’s Conifer Garden was completed in 2000. You will enjoy how the garden has transformed and matured into its renowned world-class status. Lunch will be served in the Bosque.
  • Another garden highlight is Buchholz Nursery, now owned and operated by Mr. Maple, where you will be awe-struck as you stroll through a fully mature conifer arboretum in a park-like setting.
  • You will also enjoy many private home gardens composed predominantly of conifers, sprinkled with a variety of colorful companion plants.

Specific conference details will be posted as they become available.

Consider extending your stay to tour any of the numerous pre- and post-tour garden destinations. Your Oregon visit might turn into a full-blown vacation. With so much natural wonder in Oregon, also consider visiting the Portland Japanese Garden, Lan Su Chinese Garden, Silver Falls State Park, Mt. Hood, the Oregon Coast, and much more.

We promise to overwhelm your senses with conifers. You will be entertained, inspired, and leave better educated. More importantly, you will make new friends.  We hope to see you there!
